How Salah Teaches Us The #1 Success Principle

The Prophet Muhammad (s) tells us that “the most beloved of deeds to Allah are those that are consistent, even if they’re little’ (Bukhari)

My reflection on this is that the small steps taken every day, add up...they amount to a lot over time.

A big action taken irregularly generally doesn’t have much impact.

It can look like it does when it happens.

But beyond that, it doesn’t stack, doesn’t grow, doesn’t leave a dent...

Consistently doing something small though, every day?

It adds up.

Gains momentum.

Leaves an impact.

(And Allah knows best.)

All this reminds me of salah. How it is the most beloved deed to Allah, according to a hadith of the Prophet (s).

The Prophet (s) also says about salah:

“The first action for which a servant of Allah will be held accountable on the Day of Resurrection will be his prayers. If they are in order, he will have prospered and succeeded." (At-Tirmidhi)

So the primary key to success in the next life is salah...

...and consistency is one of the main ingredients we need to establish it in this life.

And what about success in this life?

Same ingredient needed...

◾...Starting a business.

◾...Looking after our health.

◾...Nurturing a relationship.

👆🏽 They all require consistency in action in order to be maintained in success.

Amazing that the salah embeds this success ingredient into our day-to-day life, subhanAllah.

And therein can be drawn a lesson: that our success lies in what we do habitually.

We’re actually reminded that we’re being invited to success explicitly in the adhaan and iqamah:

"Hayalaal falaah" calls the mu’adhin =

Come to Success”.

And Allah reminds us:

"Successful indeed are the believers

Those who have khushoo in their prayers"

(Surah Mu’minoon: 1-2)
